Life After Rita

After the great tsunami followed by hurricane Katrina, here comes another deadly hurricane by the name of Rita. As Rita spirals the coast of Louisiana and Texas, the lessons of the past devastations are put to test.

As the military launches its hurricane rescue effort to save people, cattles and other animals as well as properties, as the government is busy with its outreach operations, we can't help but think of our friends and distant relatives who might have been injured by Rita. It is good to know that Louisiana, Texas and Houston are now recovering from the ill-fated hurricane. But we can't oversee its consequences.

The pain, damage, injury caused by nature, though not controllable by man is actionable. The destruction is massive and collective loss is so great. We do not want it repeating all over again so we must make a stand. Why don't the government order a timely study and plan the possible remedy or prevention of these force majeurs.

Let us not just sit around and talk about the loss and destruction. We can do more. We just have to take the initiative and diligence...
